Mower just died. It just stopped running and now blows smoke. Could be a short in the motor that is potentially replaceable. However, I am categorically sad I put so much money and exertion in this mower and it only lasted 2 months!

This is a great reel mower.
After getting an highly healthy, thick, stand of Bermuda grass, I was having mystery cutting the grass with my standard reel mower. Having a 7 blade standard reel mower as a backup, I was not worried about this mower missing the standard push quality without battery. Besides, 2 reel mowers still take up less space in my garage than 1 standard gas mower and gas can. :)
On the first try with this mower, I ran into all the typical problems. First, I fiddled with the bag for what seemed like forever. It was constantly full and leaving a line of piled clippings on one side. I emptied the bag what seemed like 100 times. In the mowers defense, the grass was taller than it should have been. And later I got the hang of the timing / finesse to keep the bag happy. Besides, once the lawn was happy with the new height, I did not need the bag as much.
The other qoute I began with was stalling. I first tried to cut the grass in the cool of the morning when it was a bit too tall and damp. The grass was still within the 1/3 rule, but none too happy about the lower haircut. The mower had a categorically difficult time in the thicker sections. However, once I slowed down (not in my routine, because you categorically needed to build speed to cut the thick areas with my standard reel) the mower was much happier and rarely stalled. :) Hooray! an additional one obstacle conquered!
Then to battery life. Well, the first cut categorically had me disheartened. I was sure the mower was not gonna work for me. I was barely closed with 1/2 of my yard (.25 ac with lots of planting beds). I had to fee the battery for what felt like forever while my lawn looked like a bad maze! Before giving up, I weighed my options and decided I would give the petite mower a second chance. So, I closed the lawn the next day and ordered 2 PowerMow batteries. They looked the same, so I opinion they may just work. Well, in a pinch, they do just fine. :)
So, a few weeks later. My lawn looks the best on the block. I feel free to cut it more often, because the exertion is a lot less than the standard reel mower. I have backup power, just in case I run out of juice (which rarely happens anymore). It takes up less space in my garage than any other rotary mower on the market.
Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and glad I stuck it out in the learning curve time. :)
Btw: If you have never owned a reel mower, you may want to explore how to prepare your lawn. It does not work for everyone or every type of grass. This mower cuts highly low and works great for my Bermuda but not recommended for all types of grasses. Also, do not have a yard with lots of sticks or holes and expect a happy cut.
